Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2007 PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii
Before Modern Warfare was released, many gamers saw Call Of Duty as the World War 2 game. But Modern Warfare blew the series open and it became an insanely huge hit. The campaign was set in 2011 and as a result saw the troops use up to date weapons, tactics and vehicles. The campaign was like playing a part in an action movie and the story was told from the point of view of various characters.
Infinity Ward really stacked the multiplayer for Modern Warfare, with experience points and perks for going on a kill streak. The multiplayer was more intense than ever before. A huge reason for this was the gameplay. You could argue that while the other COD games played great. It was Modern Warfare that set the tone for the way the Call Of Duty series is today.
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare was a huge success and would sell just under 16 million copies. For years (even after other COD games were released) gamers would play this online on console and PC.
The proof that Modern Warfare is one of the most popular COD games is shown with Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered. Which was an HD remastered version of the game which was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC as part of the special editions of Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Some people actually bought Infinite Warfare just to play this remastered version of Modern Warfare! That is how much people love this game!
